CASE STUDIES

INTERNATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL CLIENT

SAMPLE OF MATTER TYPES: Litigation, Restraint of Trade, Government Investigations, Intellectual Property, Employment, Securities

LENGTH OF TIME IN PROGRAM: 6.5 years

NATURE OF ASSIGNMENT: Review of emerging invoices from law firms for compliance with client guidelines and best practices. Results of initial review presented to client approvers for final approval. Validation of alternative fee arrangements (flat fees) to determine if fee arrangement favorable to client. Designed and implemented integration of LCC data into client legacy systems.

OUTCOMES: 7.3% reductions annual for invoice processing program for hourly rate billing engagements for first 3 years. 8-15% reductions in select matters during LCC’s validation of various alternative rate agreements during this period. Reduction trend downward as of year 4 due to client’s use of data obtained to implement alternative fee arrangements for all major legal assignments. Total Legal and Professional Fees = $433 Million (foreign currencies converted to U.S. Dollars)

CHALLENGES: Integration of LCC’s data into client legacy systems and other vendor systems. Data transfer complicated by delay and inability of prior vendor tech engineer’s inability to open and modify existing systems. LCC custom designed and implemented alternative interim work around until redesign complete and implemented.

Client approval process required multiple layers of approval depending on case circumstances and monetary amount. LCC successfully designed and implemented custom routing solution.
